Sarah Lacy fulfils a varied and dynamic role within the First Nations Legal and Research Services Corporate team, currently focusing on strategic planning, disability inclusion and PBC governance advice and support.
Sarah has more than 15 years’ experience implementing and managing projects in remote Aboriginal communities in Australia and Cambodia, and with diverse communities in the Asia-pacific region. Drawing on the principles of community development, Sarah’s approach builds ownership and control, strengthening groups and Traditional Owner corporations to achieve their own objectives.
Sarah has had the privilege of working with First Nations people on-country along the Murray River and across the vast Northern Territory. On Groote Eylandt, amongst the pandanus and saltwater, a highlight for Sarah was being invited to join a lady’s yarning circle. There, she grew to appreciate the true strength of connection and identity, the power of storytelling, and how to make delicious damper under hot sand.
